"Boda Mexicana" (Mexican Wedding) @ Thalia Spanish Theatre Julieta Cervantes

Calpulli Mexican Dance Company explores a new production by Artistic Director Alberto Lopez Herrera inspired by the traditions that accompany the union of two people as expressed by different ethnic groups, stories, and eras in Mexico’s rich cultural history.

The company of 16 dancers and core of musicians return to the Thalia Spanish Theatre from March 4th through March 20th with “Boda Mexicana.”  The program includes the debut of Ritual de Primavera (Rite of Spring) by Resident Choreographer Roberto Lara inspired by Mayan myths set to original music by Music Director George Saenz. The program also includes a debut of Sinaloense Soy (I am Sinaloan) by Alberto Lopez Herrera set to brass band music.
