Celebrating Diversity Through Dance Festival Michael Spinner

 

The community is invited to join Young Dancers in Repertory (YDR) for a FREE celebration of dance from around the world at the Sunset Park Recreation Center on Saturday, October 3rd  10:00 am to 3:00pm. This event is part of YDR’s Center for Dance Studies series, “Celebrating Diversity through Dance” being presented in partnership with the Sunset Park Recreation Center.  The series offers children, teens and adults the opportunity to learn about different dance traditions by active participation.  The October 3rd event will bring together many of the guest performers and teachers who will be presenting workshops throughout the year  at YDR’s Center for Dance Studies, along with some additional performers. This daylong event will begin at 10:00 with performances for children and adults.  Performances and other dance activities for the entire family will continue till 3:00 pm.

Some of the many dance traditions we will celebrate include Classical Chinese Dance with Trayer Run-Kowzun, Classical Spanish Flamenco with Celeste Rivera,  Greek Folk Dance taught by Chrisafo Madimenos Egyptian style Belly Dancing with Nicole Macotsis. Mexican Folk Dance, African Dance, Salsa, Russian Folk Dance, Debka and more presented by talented dancers and performers.

To get to Sunset Park Recreation Center at 7th Avenue between 41st & 44th Street take the "R"  to 45th St. Station / B63 (5th Ave) Bus / B35 Bus to 39th St & 7th Ave / B70 Bus to 8th Avenue & 43rd Street.
