Commissioned in-part by  "Dance on the Lawn" Montclair Dance Festival, EMoves Harlem Stage, and Jersey (New) Moves Dance Festival at New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Colored honors the dark twisted beauty of blackness while demonstrating the inherent struggle in abstracting the black dancing form. Performed by Oluwadamilare  Ayorinde, Kyle Marshall and Myssi Robinson, Colored features original music and decor by Matt Clegg.

Kyle Marshall Choreography (KMC) was organized in 2014 by choreographer and dancer Kyle Marshall. KMC sees the dancing body as a celebration of our agile form, an embodiment of history and an act of social instigation. Kyle’s dances are layers of representation frayed into abstraction. Our forms cascade in patterns that try to be progress. Our bodies objectify our moment seen through past constructs. We collect energy as time moves forward. Dance is an opportunity to empathize with other human beings and celebrate our potential.

Kyle Marshall Choreography has performed throughout the tri-state area including: Jacob’s Pillow Inside/Out, DanceNow Joe’s Pub, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Movement Research at Judson Church, NYC Summerstage, Montclair Dance Festival, Jersey City Theater Center, Wassaic Arts Project and Conduit Dance (PDX). KMC has also received residencies from DanceNow at Silo, Jamaica Performing Arts Center, CoLab Arts and the 2016 Montclair Dance Festival Emerging Choreographer Commission. KMC conducts annual education outreaches at Bayonne High School and Trenton Central High School. Kyle Marshall Choreography is fiscally sponsored through New York Live Arts.

As a dancer, Kyle currently is an apprentice for the Trisha Brown Dance Company and works with doug elkins choreography etc. His past dance credits include: Tiffany Mills Company, Ryan McNamara, Heidi Latsky, and was a founding member of 10 Hairy Legs. Kyle also assisted choreographer David Neumann on the 2016 musical The Total Bent at the Public Theater. Kyle is a 2017 New Jersey Artist Fellowship recipient and a graduate of Rutgers University with a BFA in Dance.
