The Clemente is pleased to welcome one of Mexico's leading contemporary dance companies, Contempodanza, for a two-day residency Dec 4th and 5th, 2015 in The Flamboyan Theater at The Clemente. 

Tickets are $20 for Adults, and $15 for Students and Seniors

The internationally acclaimed company will present two original works, choreographed by company founder Cecilia Lugo, titled "Arkanum" and "In the Skin of My Memory." Cecilia Lugo has been hailed as “one of the most talented choreographers in Mexico” by Alejandro Rosales Lugo of Cronica Urbana, and noted as “indispensible on the Mexican scene” by Manuel Stephens of Teatro de la Paz. Bob Hicks of The Oregonian, noted Ms. Lugo as a choreographer who “works economically and expertly in bold strokes, unafraid of passion and expressionism.” 

The company, founded in Mexico in 1986, has been the recipient of Mexico’s most prestigious arts and cultural grant, the “Beca de Excelencia” for the past ten years and recently the company’s educational component, Contempodanza Espacio en Movimiento, won the Grand Prix of the Czech Republic’s New Prague Dance Festival. 

The Clemente and Contempodanza will also be partnering with Arts Education nonprofit organization, Mark DeGarmo Dance to present a series of workshops by Contempodanza for public school dance students on the Lower East Side during their stay in New York.
