Crankies Take New York!

Crankies Take New York!

New York City’s first ever Crankie Festival is underway!

Watch the world’s greatest stories unroll before your eyes! Flushing Town Hall is pleased to announce this new (and soon to be beloved) festival of scrolled panoramas, known as “crankies.”

The “moving panoramas” that have captivated Baltimore for the past 9 years are finally making their way to NYC! Though called by different names over the past three centuries, these quirky contraptions stand as a testament to the power of storytelling. Using lights, shadow puppetry, photographs, and drawings made by hand, you can immerse yourself in live music and breath-taking stories.

The result is nothing short of mesmerizing. Take a break from the digital world to experience the warmth and fireside wonder of these hand-scrolled panorama stories we now loving call "crankies"
