Cultivating Depth Series: Find My Narrative with Sreelakshmy Govardhanan

FIND MY NARRATIVE

~ A Masterclass by Kuchipudi Exponent Smt Sreelakshmy Govardhanan

About the Masterclass:

This masterclass intends to take you through somatic experiences and exercises that engage your body and mind, and can be applied to your practice. Sreelakshmy will take you through the philosophy, aesthetic and performative aspects of abhinaya pieces. We all have heard of about “staying in the present”. How do we do it? Art is one way to experience it.

Through this ‘movement language’, we explore the body sensations, voice, breath, extent of your gaze, energies around you and the manner in which we engage with the gravity.

This movement language supports the participants to experience the Angika, Aharya, Vachika and Satwika Abhinaya through a somatic experience and apply these various aspects in their respective Art forms. It is to go beyond our familiar limits and find new narratives, which can be cathartic and artistic same time.

Expected Outcomes:

Understanding layers and nuances in abhinaya patterns

Creating a new perspective about learning abhinaya pieces

Involving movements in using abhinaya

Better outlook to textual interpretations.
