Harlem Stage’s Acclaimed Annual Dance Series Returns With New Elements

TICKETS:  Tickets are $20, available at www.harlemstage.org or 212-281-9240

Harlem Stage’s acclaimed “E-Moves” dance series offers its 15th installment with accomplished choreographers mentoring emerging and evolving dance artists who will present new works at the Harlem Stage Gatehouse. In addition to these exciting premieres over two weekends in April, “E-Moves,” for the first time, will include a “dance battle” each night between local house and breakdance artists.

“E-Moves” offers two separate programs of new works: Program A is Friday, April 4 and Friday, April 11, and Program B is Saturday, April 5 and Saturday, April 12. Each program will feature three emerging choreographers (early-career artists showing short new pieces) and one evolving choreographer (established and breaking through to more renown) who will present a longer piece. (See list and program roster below.)

E-Moves offers creative opportunities and resources to up-and-coming choreographers by pairing them with mentors, who this year include Kevin Wynn (Kevin Wynn Collections, Alvin Ailey/Fordham University B.F.A. Program faculty), Juan Carlos Peñuela (ballet master of Ballet Hispanico) and Francesca Harper (The Francesca Harper Project).

An opening night reception will follow performances April 4.

Q&A with artists to follow performances April 5 and 11.
