Event of the Year, Harlem Night Song

Event of the Year, Harlem Night Song

This year, National Dance Institute journeyed through Harlem’s epic legacy, celebrating the sights, sounds, and rhythms of a neighborhood that has been a thriving center of cultural achievement and political action for over a century.

Join us for our culminating performance on June 17-19th, as we explore the work of Jacob Lawrence, Duke Ellington, Fats Waller, and Tito Puente.  Stomp at the Savoy, salute the Harlem Hellfighters, cheer for Joe Louis, and shuffle along at the Hoofer’s Club.  Billie Holiday will break our hearts and James Baldwin will inspire us to transcend and transform our circumstances.  Together we will discover the journey of those who came before us, their influence on our lives today, the regenerative power of community and the hope for equality that carries us into the future.

Tickets for all performances can be purchased through the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts website, or join us for the Benefit Performance & After Party on Monday, June 19th.  For more information about those tickets please call 212-226-0083.
