Helga and the Three Sailors

Helga and the Three Sailors Netta Yerushalmy

Netta Yerushalmy is a dance artist whose highly crafted choreographic works aim to engage with audiences by imparting the sensation of things as they are perceived, not as they are known, and to challenge how meaning is attributed and constructed.

Though bodies are the containers of our subjectivities, dancing bodies can also be desubjectified and rendered as pictorial matter, like colors and textures on a surface. Helga and The Three Sailors is a new dance by Yerushalmy that engages with personal history and aesthetic de-familiarization within a performance space heightened by color and imagery.

The work is performed by Marc Crousillat, Amanda Kmett’Pendry, Sarah Lifson, and Netta Yerushalmy with original music performed live by composer and vocalist Judith Berkson.

Costumes by Austin-based artist Magdalena Jarkowiec
