PRESENTING A RARE NEW YORK CITY TWO-DAY WORKSHOP!

Margie Gillis, O.C., C.Q. is an internationally acclaimed modern dancer, choreographer, teacher, mentor and lecturer. She has been creating and performing her original works for over forty years. Margie is primarily known for the solo shows she continues to perform and her ability to deeply touch her audiences. In parallel to her solo work, she has worked with some of the most important dance artists and companies of her time. Teaching is also an important aspect of her career. She offers workshops to dance professionals and students in various cities throughout the world, including Montreal where she regularly teaches at Springboard Danse Montreal.

In New York City, Margie has taught at the prestigious Juilliard School and, after 15 years, she is returning to offer professional workshops to the NY dance community.

The Margie Gillis Dance Foundation supports Margie’s artistry and vision as well as The Legacy Project, a recent initiative to pass her unique knowledge and works to the next generations. Margie’s innovative work has been published and a list is available on her website. She is a socially committed artist and activist.

Her numerous awards and distinctions include the Lifetime Artistic Achievement Award from the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award Foundation and the Stella Adler Studio of New York first MAD Spirit Award for Exceptional Humanitarian Actions by an Artist. She was also appointed Knight of the Ordre national du Québec and Officer of the Order of Canada..
