With this collaboration, the Emelin Theatre is thrilled to present a professional adaptation of this beloved ballet for the enjoyment of family audiences throughout Westchester. As Emelin’s Executive Director, Elliot Fox, explains, “We have been looking to present the Nutcracker in collaboration with Westchester based artists. We are excited to find this collaboration with Carole Alexis and Ballet des Amériques, whose quality, cultural knowledge and artistic vision brings world-class art to our family series and holiday season programming.” Carole Alexis, for her part, explains that her interest in creating a Nutcracker was to bring families and friends together around the essence of what the story represents, namely, the beautiful balance between Marie’s childhood playfulness and her coming of age in the midst of her own circle of family and friends – an objective that dovetails nicely the Emelin’s program.

Under the directorship of French-American choreographer Carole Alexis, Ballet des Amériques, has been staging productions at the Emelin Theatre since 2012. Proclaimed Westchester’s Premier Dance Company by the County Executive, Ballet des Amériques is also resident company of the Tarrytown Music Hall and is committed to developing inclusive dance audiences regionally, nationally and internationally. The Emelin Theatre for the Performing Arts has been bringing exciting and diverse performing arts to Westchester for over 45 years, offering a broad spectrum of entertainment appealing to all ages and tastes, attracting audiences from Westchester County and beyond. The Emelin presents world class music of all genres, dance, comedy, and independent film in addition to its family programs.
