Poor Man’s Parable at the Spark Theater Festival

Text reads: Natalia Nikitin’s Poor Man’s Parable at the Spark Theater Festival, against a stage photo of dancers Emily Bromlin

This contemporary dance performance feautures the work of emerging artist Natalia Nikitin with a cast of 7 incredible NYU Tisch Dance graduates.

About the work: Poor Man's Parable was created in 2023 and premired at NYU's Second Avenue Dance Company Concert. This piece was originally created in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and further inspired by universal experiences of loss. How do we process the loss of something we never thought was possible to lose? It is through overcoming those painful losses, that we can find our inner strength, turn to our guardian angels, and share our experiences with our community. I was moved by the beauty of the sounds of the Pyatnitsky choir and its raw voices have greatly inspired the work’s emotional narrative.

This work will be one piece amongst 5 for this Spark Theater Festival Show.

Emerging Artists Theatre’s Spark Theatre Festival NYC (formerly the New Work Series) began in 2006 and focuses on new works, new talents, and new voices. emergingartiststheatre.org
