SPARK Dance Forum Sets the Stage for another year of talent and growth

SPARK, now in it’s second year, is a networking performance forum showcasing movement-based work by emerging artists. Through the performance experience, SPARK aims to create new professional and creative opportunities between artists, providing a driving force for future collaboration.

Emerging from the desire to facilitate performance opportunities and network development for performing artists, SPARK unites individuals of various backgrounds and skill sets in a uniquely tailored format. Founders and curators, Martha Dobbs and Kate Bishop, created SPARK with the aspirations to create a lasting experience for performing artists, leaving all involved with access to more creativity in their network. Specialized application processes, program format and post performance meet and greets create an exciting atmosphere for the evenings work to thrive and resonate even after the night has closed.

With 2 vastly different programs, from dueling tango and contemporary dance to movement on the big screen, eleven hand selected artists will perform in the second installation of SPARK Dance Forum. Artists include Blaine Horton, Boink! Dance & Film Productions, Candace DeLeon, Martha Dobbs, Whitney Bryant-Glandon, Raven Jelks, Angela Maffia, Rebecca McCormac, Brandon Richardson, Shane Rutkowski, Tikiri Shapiro and Kacey Stamats.

SPARK will be showcased at The Actors Fund Arts Center in Brooklyn on October 3rd & 4th at 8pm (160 Schermerhorn Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201). Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the door or through Brown Paper Tickets. The post performance meet and greet will be held at the theatre following each performance. Updates regarding SPARK Dance Forum can be found on Facebook and Twitter.
