Dancers Unlimited celebrates 10 years in New York City at La Mama Moves! Festival! As a bi-coastal company that started in Hawaiʻi 15 years ago, our work is rooted in the traditional Hawaiian values and culture of the islands, as well as our community here in NYC. For the last 4 years, DU has celebrated our NYC community during our Spring Community Week each year. This yearʻs theme is hoʻoulu, the Hawaiian word for “to grow and lift up.” The week celebrates a decade of community magic and performances in NYC for the company, while recommitting to our mission to create authentic moveMEANT narratives through community engagement, creative collaboration, and social justice work. As a bi-coastal company, we're thrilled to offer a week of workshops and events to share Hawaiian and Pacific Island culture, featuring local NYC performance groups and organizations with ties to Hawaiʻi. The week includes Pacific Island dance and culture workshops, a film screening, and 3 performances, more info on dunyc-hi.com
