Talk on Dance’s Repertoires: Transmission and Reenactment Michel Cavalca

with Linda Shelton, Executive Director, Joyce Theater; Yorgos Loukos, Director, Lyon Opera Ballet; Lance Gries, freelance dancer, choreographer, representing the Trisha Brown Dance Company; Trajal Harrell, artist-choreographer.

In conjunction with Lyon Opera Ballet's presence at the Joyce Theater, the Cultural Services of the French Embassy will host a talk on Dance’s Repertoires, Transmission and Reenactment in Contemporary Choreographic Practices.

Moderated by Noémie Solomon, a writer, teacher, performer, dramaturge, and curator of contemporary choreography, and currently a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in Dance Studies at Brown University, this talk will investigate the transmission, reenactment, and appropriation of dance repertoire. It will also focus on how artists and choreographers continue to interpret the works of historical dance figures. The panel will be followed by a Q&A session.
