The Bang Group: Tap Lab

The Bang Group: Tap Lab

The Bang Group: Tap Lab
The Bang Group founder David Parker and his company will present Tap Lab in week two of the 92nd Street Y's Harkness Dance Festival. The performance is made up of four dances: “Settling Scores,” “Bocca al Lupo,” “Punctual Equilibrium,” and “Tempus Fugit.” Parker’s work emphasizes that dance is not only a visual experience – it’s an aural experience, too. Featuring contemporary dancers with roots in tap, Tap Lab is a rhythmic dance in which the performers use their bodies to evoke the sound of Mozart, Steve Reich, and Morton Feldman. In the “Stripped” portion of the piece, Parker will engage the audience in a discussion about the process of translating the original recorded pieces into “body music.”
