The moon is The Waxing Crescent as Chris Ferris & Dancers presents a 2 part program in the up close and personal setting of New York City Center Studios.  Ferris’ Rampaging Light series is dance existing in parallel worlds; framed time shattered between reality and dreams; and the magical mishaps that you thought didn’t happen but did.  Original sound scores are by Max Maples and Loren Dempster.  Loren Dempster  will play loop based improvisational music on the cello with influences of folk, rock, classical, and electronics, with choreographic works by Melissa Brading, Erin DeLucia-Benson, and Cecly Placenti.

Rampaging Light, by Chris Ferris & Dancers, holds and releases you with the silent step, soundless wind, screaming train, and buzzing wall of voices.  This is performance that will alter your perception of a single room and the flipping numbers on your clock.  Sometimes everything does not have to make sense. This is a suite of 4 dances: Sonic Barrier; Go In Alone, That’s The Deal; When Gravity Fails; and Narrow Doors Spinning World.  Dancers include: Dexter Carlson, Erin DeLucia-Benson, Vanessa Ferranti, Michelle Gilligan, Annastasia Mercedes, Aneyn O’Grady, Cecly Placenti, Emily Relyea-Spivack, Rachel Russell, Diane Skerbec, and Maho Takeshita.  Music: Loren Dempster and Max Maples

Loren Dempster performs his recent music with choreography by Melissa Brading, Erin DeLucia-Benson, and Cecly Placenti.  Melissa Brading’s duet Tendon is danced by Brading and Elisa Schreiber.  Erin DeLucia-Benson’s Quintessance is based on the depth of a friend.  Someone who is alone will always be saved with the aid of a soulful companion.  The movement explores restriction and freedom; fear and confidence; plus loneliness and empathy.  Bodies define space with bold, accelerating, and expansive movements.  Dancers support each other with perfectly timed catches and carries. Quintessance is danced by DeLucia-Benson, Evan Lee Breed, and Jillian Hollis.  Cecly Placenti’s duet is danced by Placenti and Kristen Klein.
