ABOUT THIS SHOW

Initiated in the early 90s, this series focuses on emerging, up & coming contemporary choreographers who are refining/defining their distinctive styles. Curated by Doug Post.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Carly Czach has been practicing and performing dance for more than two decades. She has been privileged to train and work with countless gifted artists in the field, and has shared her choreographic and performance work in NYC, Chicago and abroad. Her research utilizes dance making, improvisation, somatic practice, vocalization, and visual art making to rediscover and facilitate inquiry around what it means to be alive. She has taught Contemporary dance and Contact Improvisation classes in NYC, as a guest teacher at Columbia College Chicago, and holds a BFA in Dancemaking.

Audrey Rachelle and Alex Jenkins co-founded AnA Collaborations in March of 2015. Since then, AnA has partnered with artists in numerous mediums including film, music & literature to create visceral, accessible, & moving experiences for people of all backgrounds. AnA’s work has been presented by The CURRENT SESSIONS, The Bunker NYC, LiveStream Public, RIKER STUDIO & Gibney Dance Center.

Nubian Nene was born and raised in Montreal, and is mostly known for her waacking and house dance styles. She has become a well traveled dancer, teacher and choreographer and is always looking for opportunity to create, present and teach.  She most recently choreographed a piece with her partner, which explored the house dance culture as lived in New York City, and performed it at ‘Place Des Arts’ in Montreal for the 100lux dance festival.  Nubian Nene is always looking for opportunities to broaden her knowledge of culture and dance, hence her driving force to inspire and getting inspired in return.

A Brooklyn-based artist, holding a BFA from Rutgers & MFA from NYU’s Tisch, Lauren Beirnehas performed with RJDW, Kate Weare, Deborah Jowitt, Motus Dance Theatre, The White Rabbit Cabaret, NMDP, The Outlet Dance Project, Desert Sin & Suzanne Beahrs at the DanceNOW (Raw) & DUMBO Dance Festivals. Founded in 2015, Lauren Beirne Dance Works has presented work at The HATCH Series, The Actors Fund Arts Center, Your Move, The Garage at FDU in residency with NMDP & RAW ARTISTS & will be showing at John Jay College & West Fest this spring.
