Y

Three dancers perform in RoseAnne Spradlin's "Y"

New York Lives Arts’ 2017-19 RandjeloviA?/Stryker Resident Commissioned Artist (RCA) RoseAnne Spradlin presents the world premiere of her latest work “Y”. Spradlin, an alumnus of Fresh Tracks (1990) who received a Bessie award in 2003, a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2008, and a US Artist Ford Fellowship in 2014 engages a cast of eight dancers: Annie Heath, Ainesh Madan, Athena Malloy, Claire Westby, Connor Voss, Doug LeCours, EmmaGrace Skove-Epes, and Thomas Welsh-Huggins in an exploration of form and transformation through systems of repetition. The work asks not only, “How far can we go? What can a body do?” It also asks, “What is a body? What language does it speak?” Glen Fogel (Visuals and Sound Score) and Rick Murray (Lighting) join her artistic team.
