THE LATIN CHOREOGRAPHERS FESTIVAL 2010
Diversity and Creativity in Powerful and Innovative dances by Latin Choreographers
The Latin Choreographers Festival 2010 returns to IATI*’s 3rd Annual Festival PAM (Performing Arts Marathon), a 3-week multi-cultural event with over 150 artists, 14 national & international productions in dance, music and theatre to honor diversity and creativity in all performing art disciplines from July 8 through July 25, 2010. Diversity and creativity are most definitely adjectives to The Latin Choreographers Festival that will run from July 16th to July 18th in Dance New Amsterdam (DNA) on 230 Broadway in Lower Manhattan.
The Latin Choreographers Festival showcases talented choreographers who cross genres and cultural boundaries through powerful and innovative dance pieces through concert dance and the styles of Contemporary Ballet, Modern Dance and Contemporary Dance. It presents talented established, rising and new choreographers from New York and abroad. Past participants include choreographers from Mexico, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Costa Rica, and Ecuador.
“As dancers and choreographers, it is our responsibility to create, support and empower our world of dance,” says Ms. Ursula Verduzco, Dancer and Choreographer who created this production in 2008 with the mission to present and showcase in NYC the work of talented and innovative Latin choreographers, as well as one guest (non-Latin) choreographer or Company per year. Ms. Verduzco concludes with signature quote, “let’s keep dance and opportunity ALIVE!”
