For NYC Dance Presenters: Attend the DunaPart Platform in Budapest

Dear New York City Dance Presenters:

We have received news of funding for an International Presenters’ Exchange, sponsored by Dance/UP (Dance/USA Philadelphia) that will send a small USA delegation (one presenter from New York City, one from Washington DC and two from Philadelphia) to the DunaPart Platform of Contemporary Hungarian Performing Arts (Jan 20-24, 2011) and reciprocally a small delegation of East European presenters to the Philadelphia Dance Showcase (April 18,19 2011). This project is a partnership with the Workshop Foundation in Budapest Hungary.

There will be a convening of both cohorts in Philadelphia at the Philadelphia Dance Showcase to discuss aesthetics, opportunities, audience engagement for contemporary work and any other topics that present themselves.

Presenters’ expenses related to the trip to Budapest will be fully funded by Dance/UP. Registration fees to Philadelphia Dance Showcase will be waived. The NYC and Washington, DC presenters are responsible for their travel expenses to the Philadelphia Showcase, however they will be eligible to apply for travel subsidy through the new Philadelphia Dance Showcase travel subsidy program (up to $250).

This opportunity will be offered to ONE New York City-based presenter, by lottery, based on the following criteria. If you meet all the eligibility criteria submit your name/organization and contact information for the lottery by Noon, Tuesday November 22 to Lacey Althouse at lalthouse@dancenyc.org. We will draw names Tuesday, November 23.

Criteria for Participation in the International Presenters Exchange:
-- Commitment to attending DunaPart Platform in Budapest Hungary January, 20-24, 2011 and the Philadelphia Dance Showcase April 18, 2011 10 am – 6pm (April 19 is optional). On April 18 there will be a required convening of all the participants in the International Presenters Exchange sponsored by Dance/UP.
-- Three-year history of presenting dance in New York City.
-- An interest and commitment to contemporary work, hybrid forms and emerging artists.
-- The capacity to present international artists, including access to resources for securing visas.
-- A minimum of five contracts (for performances or residencies) with dance companies or individual artists over the past three years. Note: Only contracts with guaranteed fees (not split of gate arrangements) can be counted.

We’re excited to be able to offer this opportunity. If you have questions feel free to call Dance/NYC at (212) 966-4452.

Sincerely yours,

Lane
