Drummers and Dancers Needed for Summer Season of Performances

 
Ballet International Africans is currently seeking a lead djembe drummer, an experienced DunDun drummer, and a back-up djembe drummer - all must be familiar with some rhythms of West Africa specifically, Guinea & Mali. Any age West African percussionists of African or African American descent.
BIA is also seeking dancers btwn the ages of 11 and 30 that are experienced in African dance. Dancers should have performance experience, be of Ethnic heritage, and be familiar with some forms of West African dance.
The audition is for two performances taking place July 2nd and July 10th. The shows do not pay BUT if successful they will lead to a permanent spot in the company and the paid gigs for BIA's Fall/ Winter Season (Sept-Feb).
Auditions will be held on May 11th, 2010 - Tuesday at The Afrikan Poetry Thetare 176-03 Jamaica Avenue, Jamaica Queens, NY 11432. Audition will be from 8 to 9pm and will consist of learning some of the company repertoire. Those selected will be notified the next daay via email.
