GREEN LINE- Call for Choreographic Submissions

GREEN LINE 2013: CALL FOR CHOREOGRAPHIC SUBMISSIONS

TrioDance Collective is curating its second annual GREEN LINE performance at Buttenwieser Hall at the 92nd Street Y on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 8:00pm.

Dear Choreographers,

TrioDance Collective is accepting submissions for its second annual GREEN LINE, an evening of new works by emerging choreographers on Friday April 12 at Buttenwieser Hall at the 92nd Street Y on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

GREEN LINE is a limited-tech presentation in a beautiful, spacious setting with substantial artistic lineage. Artistic Directors and curators Barbie Diewald and Emily Jeffries are seeking choreographers (ages 23-28) working with ensembles to present up to 20 minutes of work. The program draws from TrioDance Collective's mission to champion the individual artist within the support of a group structure. The gathering of a variety of like-minded dance artists provides us with a platform to establish an open dialogue among artists, and work generously within our shared discipline.

Ensemble works are important to TrioDance Collective because they imply a built-in sense of community and a way of working that considers the priorities of multiple artists. TrioDance understands the distinct challenges that come along with building and maintaining ensembles, and seeks to foster solidarity with other groups that do the same. We consider ensemble works to be works that include at least three performers.

Artists are selected on the basis of artistic merit, and should demonstrate a history of dance making outside the undergraduate level. Preference is given to artists who have presented at least 60 minutes of combined repertory in the New York City area.

The work sample submitted must be a video of the work the choreographer intends to present in GREEN LINE. You may submit clear rehearsal footage if the work is in-progress. The work may be a maximum of 20 minutes.

The submission deadline for GREEN LINE 2013 is March 3, 2013. All selected choreographers will be notified of acceptance by March 13, 2013.

A word about GREEN LINE from Theodora Buguszewski, one of our 2012 Artists:

“I just wanted to thank you for having me! I'm so impressed by anyone who brings the arts community together, and your ability to do it so effectively never ceases to amaze me. What an impressive show and a great crowd! I'm honored to have had the opportunity to show work among so many incredible choreographers in such a beautiful space. From time to time I find myself starting to lose faith in the dance community, and seeing so many talented dancers and (more impressively) such a large and supportive audience really restores it. “
