Julie Taymor's A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM

We are looking for children to play the Fairies in Julie Taymor's production of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM as the inaugural production for Theatre For A New Audience's new theatre in Brooklyn Brian Brooks is the choreographer. The Fairies should be children from 8 to 16 male and female, all ethnicities. The actual age doesn't matter as long as they look and sound like children, not young adults. The Fairies must have dance training, (Hip-hop, gymnastics and Martial Arts training are a plus). The dance is not ballet, but modern, so children with ballet training must be comfortable with a more modern idiom. They must also sing well, and be able to sustain a note . Some of the fairies will have speaking parts and must be comfortable with Shakespearean text.

What is provided for children:We do not provide transportation or meals, but we will provide supervision from the time the child is left in our care until they are picked up. We will provide a tutoring plan at the theatre’s expense per NY State regulations. We will not release children from our care without specific written instructions from parents, but parents are responsible for transportation to and from rehearsals and performances.

The Fairies will be paid $200 per week. This is an incredible educational opportunity for kids to work with Julie Taymor and a cast of artists on a play by Shakespeare. The play will be the inaugural production for Theatre For A New Audience's new theatre in The Brooklyn Arts District, between The Opera House and The Harvey Theatre.
I am hoping to audition June 26 to July 2, so I need responses ASAP.
