Early Childhood Caregiver & Child Teacher

2013-2014 BAX Faculty Position Opening:

Early Childhood Caregiver & Child Teacher

BAX is looking for an energetic and experienced educator to facilitate our ongoing Early Childhood Move & Groove (caregiver and child) classes.  These classes offer age appropriate interactive activities for children ages 18 months to 3.5 years old and provide space for creative play with caregivers and parents. The Education Department is looking for a skilled teacher who can commit for the 2013-2014 academic year (September 2013 -June 2014). Preferred candidates will have professional experience in early childhood teaching and the performing arts, be personable, and comfortable working with families & young children alike.

BAX’s Move & Groove classes operate on a trimester basis: fall, winter, and spring (approximately 10-weeks each). We offer two sections: level one (ages 18 months to 30 months) and level two (ages 2.5-3.5 years old). We are looking for someone to teach our Tuesday classes, which take place from 9:30-10:15am and 10:30-11:15am, with 15 min on each end for set up and clean up.  The schedule parallels our class schedule (see class schedule for holidays and breaks). BAX reserves the right to cancel any class in which enrollment is below 4 students.

Move and Groove I (18 months–2.5 years with parent or caregiver)
Movement, rhythm, rhyme and song combine to stimulate your baby’s body, mind and spirit. This class provides a creative movement experience while developing body as well as spatial awareness. Toddlers wiggle, gallop, clap, shake and slide in a supportive group environment. Child and caregiver will move and sing together while participating in group activities that encourage creativity.

Move and Groove II (2.5-3.5 years with parent or caregiver)
Toddlers stretch their bodies and imaginations through movement activities, songs, stories, creative props and rhythmic games. This class increases spatial and body awareness through emphasis on physical articulation and timing. Child and caregiver will move and sing together in group activities that encourage empowerment, creativity and develop basic social skills.

Competitive hourly pay, determined based on experience.
