OPEN CALL: CPR Presents: Fall Movement

OPEN CALL: CPR Presents: Fall Movement

After three successful nights of performances hosted in April 2014, CPR Presents is returning with its bi-annual presentation series of emerging and mid-career experimental dance artists. CPR Presents: Fall Movement will showcase work of up to six choreographers over the course of three evenings from November 13, 14, and 15, 2014.

CPR invites applications from artists working within the various aspects of dance and performance as well as pieces that incorporate technological and visual art elements. Please keep in mind, CPR has a general repertory plot with very basic track lighting, projection capabilities and a full sound system. No additional equipment can be provided. Pieces proposed for presentation should be no more than 15 minutes in length, including any setup or breakdown. CPR loves to host artists from outside of New York, but cannot pay for any travel costs or help with accommodations in NYC.

If you would like to be a part of Fall Movement in 2014 please submit an application form including a short biography, a description of the proposed work and a video work sample (see application form for details). We can only accept Word Docs (no PDFs), as this will assist us in the process of compiling the applications. CPR will only accept emailed applications sent to applications@cprnyc.org. We strongly suggest applying with video of the proposed work, however rehearsal footage as well as a video of an alternative work will be accepted. We can only accept one video sample shared via video sites such as Vimeo, YouTube, etc. Please include all URLs on the application form and make sure that the link works properly before submitting your application. In order to apply, artists need to be available to perform any of the three nights of the festival, as we cannot accommodate specific scheduling requests. Submissions will be reviewed by CPR Staff and artistic advisors, and 6 will be chosen for presentation during Fall Movement.

If your work is chosen you will be notified no later than October 8, 2014. Each participating artist will receive two fully produced performances in CPR’s theater space during the course of the three night festival.  CPR will provide a small honorarium to the selected choreographers. This performance will include the support of CPR’s technical and production staff, as well as marketing support, all handled by CPR. Selected artists will have one technical rehearsal between November 10 & 11 in the evening, they may state a preference but they need to make every attempt to be available for either of these two nights. Participating artists will also be entitled to 2 (two) complimentary tickets for the night of your performance. All you need to do is bring the performance!

DEADLINE: All applications must be received via email by Monday, September 29th by 6pm.

Email us at applications@cprnyc.org to request a Word Format Application Form before September 26th. Please direct any questions to applications@cprnyc.org.

We are looking forward to seeing your application!
