OPEN CALL: CPR Presents: Spring Movement

OPEN CALL: CPR Presents: Spring Movement

After three successful nights of performances hosted in November 2014, CPR Presents is returning with its bi-annual presentation series of emerging and mid-career experimental dance artists. CPR Presents: Spring Movement will showcase work of up to twelve choreographers over the course of three evenings from April 13-15, 2015.

CPR invites applications from artists working within the various aspects of dance and performance as well as pieces that incorporate technological and visual art elements. CPR has a state of the art LED repertory plot that is completely customizable, projection capabilities and a full sound system. Pieces proposed for presentation should be no more than 15 minutes in length, including any setup or breakdown. CPR loves to host artists from outside of New York, but cannot pay for any travel costs or help with accommodations in NYC.

If you would like to be a part of Spring Movement in 2015 please submit an application form including a short biography, a description of the proposed work and a video work sample (see application form for details). Please note that incomplete applications will not be accepted. We strongly suggest applying with video of the proposed work, however rehearsal footage as well as a video of an alternative work will be accepted. We can only accept one video sample shared via video sites such as Vimeo, YouTube, etc. Please include all URLs on the application form and make sure that the link works properly before submitting your application. In order to apply, artists need to be available to perform any of the three nights of the festival, as we cannot accommodate specific scheduling requests. Submissions will be reviewed by CPR Staff and artistic advisors, and 12 will be chosen for presentation during Spring Movement.

If your work is chosen you will be notified no later than March 11, 2015. Each participating artist will receive one fully produced performance in CPR’s theater space during the course of the three night festival.  CPR will provide a small honorarium to the selected choreographers. This performance will include the support of CPR’s technical and production staff, as well as marketing support, all handled by CPR. Selected artists will have one technical rehearsal April 13, 14 or 15, 2015 in the evening, they may state a preference but they need to make every attempt to be available for either of these three nights. Participating artists will also be entitled to 2 (two) complimentary tickets for the night of your performance.
