CAENIS casting call - Dancers with improvisation/acting/theater experience

CAENIS

A Physical Theater Piece at Pace Gallery, Performances March 10 - 13.
Writer/Director: Lilleth Glimcher
Choreographer: Amanda Hameline

Producers: Madeleine Bersin + David Manella

RELEVANT INFORMATION

This physical performance piece is an adaptation of the CAENIS myth from Ovid’s Metamorphoses. Caenis is the most beautiful Lapith maiden in Thessaly. One day, Neptune rapes Caenis. “I’ll give you anything you want,” Neptune then offers. “I want to never suffer this again,” she demands. So Neptune turns Caenis into a man. Caeneus then battles nasty Centaurs, and ultimately gets pummeled into the ground, and turned back into a woman...

The piece will continue to develop in the rehearsal room, and will use the body, more so than words, to tell the story. Please check that you can commit to the rehearsal calendar in its entirety before submitting to audition. Each performer will receive a stipend of $300 for the project.

Please submit a headshot/resume to caenis2016@gmail.com by Wednesday December 9th, with your audition availability and rehearsal availability (both schedules below).
