Artistic Director of Non-Profit Dance Studio (Ohio)

 

Position Available: Artistic Director of Non-Profit Dance Studio 

Factory Street Studio, a 38 year old non-profit dance organization, is seeking an Artistic Director to begin the 2016-2017 season. This non-competitive dance studio is an integral part of the Athens arts community, and is embraced for its integrity, quality, creativity, and student-oriented atmosphere. Applicants must be dynamic, passionate, creative leaders capable of bringing these qualities to the position. The Artistic Director manages, organizes, and maintains a quality dance program based in modern dance technique. This modern-based curriculum has a special emphasis on student composition, choreography and improvisation. The curriculum also includes ballet, jazz, tap and hip hop. Factory Street Studio has a student base of 150 students, holds 30 classes per week, and hosts student choreography and composition classes. In addition to working closely with the Board of Directors, the Artistic Director works intensively with every teacher and student at Factory Street Studio.

The Artistic Director must be flexible in managing all aspects of the organization. The Artistic Director is responsible for hiring a skilled teaching staff, managing day-to-day operations, maintaining a good working relationship with the Athens community, and developing all facets of artistic planning and programming for Factory Street Studio. The Artistic Director also has the ability to teach classes and produces two annual concerts, Winter Concert and Spring Concert, as well as open house events and small performances in the Athens area.

Experience teaching young dancers, as well as dancers interested in pursuing dance after high school, is ideal. Administrative experience is helpful, but not required for the position. Candidates must possess a degree in Dance, a minimum of a B.A., and a minimum of 3 years’ teaching experience. Salary commensurate with experience. The salary for the Artistic Director starts at $25,000.00/annually, with the possibility of an additional teaching contract negotiated separately, per candidate’s interests and availability. Start date July 1, 2016, with flexible training time to begin May/June.
