WELCOME TO DETROIT DANCE CITY FESTIVAL 2017

ARTLAB J is pleased to present the 5th Annual Detroit Dance City Festival(DDCF) in midtown Detroit. 

The three-day community building event celebrates dance in its various forms and disciplines with workshops, performances and networking opportunities held at Detroit Institute of  Art Museum throughout the city August 24th, 25th and August 26th, 2017.

The mission of DDCF is to educate audiences about the impact of dance, provide opportunities for artists to share their work, and create artistic networks between Michigan, the United States and the world.

CHOREOGRAPHERS SHOWCASE
Choreographers Showcase features work of choreographers from across the country. This showcase is an opportunity for all artists to share their work and ideas. At the end of the Choreographers Showcase, a company/choreographer will be selected for our Artist Exchange Program.
*Artist Exchange Program: In an effort to promote Detroit as an international hub for movement, The Detroit Dance City Festival curates an exchange program with a national and international company.
 
Dance Film Fest
The Film Fest will feature works by choreographers and filmmakers who are interested in working at the intersection of film and movement. 

SUMMER STAGE
Performances by dancers, musicians, and performance artists. Activities such as face-painting and games make this family-friendly event a highlight of the Festival.

FRIDAY FUNK NIGHT
A one night dance party celebrating dance, funk, and art! Crews and dance groups will be performing throughout the night as well as open opportunities to freestyle on the dance floor!

Application Guidelines:

-Length of submitted work (including set-up and strike).

*Choreographers Showcase, Summer Stage, Friday Funk Night
   - Group pieces must be 10 minutes or less.          
   - Solos must be 7 minutes or less (including set-up and strike).

*Dance Film Fest must be 15 minutes or less.

-Any style of dance is welcome to be submitted.

-A complete submission includes application form and application  fee $25 per work submitted

-Companies can submit up to two applications. Each application must have a separate form and fee.  

-Your application will not be complete until we receive your application fee.                                                                                                

-The $25 per application fee is non-refundable. 

-We accept the application fee check or credit card
