Interns Needed for Political Dance Theatre

Interns Needed for Political Dance Theatre Nelson Cruz

Formed in March 2011, The Kandake is a fiscally-sponsored, dance-theatre collective that combines social activism and community engagement with folkloric, modern, theatrical and experimental movement. The collective embraces talented performers of various ethnicities, religious (or non-religious) backgrounds, sexual orientations, gender identities and ability levels. The Kandake also stays active in the community by hosting free shows, street art and workshops.

Our latest work entitled "1001 Nights: Love Stories on Death Row (A Rock Ballet)" incorporates ancient and modern dance and live music from around the world, martial arts, aerial performance, video projection installations, community engagement projects and audience participation. The script was solicited by a major Off-Broadway theatre in the Summer of 2015.

We have a variety of projects coming up in honor of our 5-year anniversary and we'd love some administrative help.

Please contact us if you have experience in the following areas:

* Marketing, Promotion, Social Media

* Research & Data Entry

* Writing & Proofreading

* Design

* Fundraising

Please reply telling us what your specialty is and what you are looking to get out of this internship. Please also send a resume if you have one. We can offer school credit, free or discounted dance lessons depending on the teacher/genre, free tickets to shows (AD writes for Broadway World) or refreshments when appropriate. Other forms of compensation may be available in unique situations.
