> ABOUT
The CURRENT SESSIONS seeks proposals from choreographers and dance collectives working within contemporary performance for the Volume VI, Issue II. series from August 19 to 21, 2016 to be held at the wild project in the East Village in NYC.

Now in its 6th year, the CURRENT SESSIONS has built a reputation as an organization that offers unique and memorable experiences for dancemakers, their collaborators, and spectators alike. SESSION after SESSION, passionate artists come together from NYC, the US and abroad to develop new relationships; a 3-day festival of curated performances, movement workshops and an open forum/discussion allow accepted artists to exchange in both conversation and craft. Recent presented artists include: Niall Jones, Yara Travieso, ChristinaNoel & the Creature, and Teddy Tedholm, among others.

Selected artists will receive a $125 honorarium, in addition to 2 performances with full lighting and sound capabilities, high quality photo/video documentation of your work, rehearsal feedback, and more.

> CURATORIAL THEME
The Curatorial Theme for Volume VI, Issue II. is Value. Performance practices are marked by an effective absence of fixed artifacts, a reality which limits opportunities for exhibition and documentation while complicating issues of provenance and remuneration. Yet while the gesture is ephemeral, a choreography–the conceptual and embodied material–may be survived through cultural circulation, the value we place implicitly on performance. For Volume VI, Issue II, the CURRENT SESSIONS seeks artists interested in locating, questioning or extending the way value is produced through movement, more specifically, with the ideas of Memory & Temporality, Identity & Lineage, and Viewership & Participation. Read more >>
