DANCE WITH HORSE ON TANG POETRY
SYNOPSIS
The project involves a film of dancing with horses inspired by Tang poetry on Horses. Tang poetry and art are widely regarded as a pinnacle of classical Chinese culture comparable to the Italian Renaissance. The poet Li Bai’s metaphoric vision, the totemic strength of the predator, the speed and elegance will be translated into dance and the relationship with horses.
There is strong and wide diversity of poems on the horse. The horse plays an important role in the history of china as in the history of the west. There has been a cross cultural interests in the horse as a symbol of our lost contact with nature. In dancing with horses, I propose to reexamine and restore that lost contact. This dance will have universal appeal for audiences in both east and west. I would like to portrait human connection to nature through dancing with horses.
The film will be shown to Jumping Frames International Dance Video Festival in Hong Kong, International Video Dance Festival in Korea and New York. It also will be submitted to various International Screen Dance, Dance Film Festival.
