Dark & Stormy Productions is looking for dancers of all genders for their fall production, Revel's End: A Tempest Dance Party. Auditions will take place on Saturday July 23rd and Sunday July 24th. 

Revel’s End is a mashup of Shakespeare’s last and perhaps most controversial play with original pop/R&B music and collaboratively devised contemporary dance. Set in a Williamsburg night club, Revel’s End is neither musical nor play-with-music, but a new hybrid style: part concert, part play, and part dance party. 

Casting the roles of Prospero, Miranda, Ferdinand, Caliban/Alonso, Antonio/Stephano, and Sebastian/Trinculo. All ages, sexes, genders, body types, and ethnicities will be considered. Must have a solid background in at least one form of stylized movement or dance. Experience with Shakespeare not required. People of color, queer and trans people, and women all strongly encouraged to apply.

Also casting the role of Ariel. Performer and singer. Will be singing original dance music. All vocal types will be considered. Should identify as female. Experience with Shakespeare not required. People of color, queer and trans people strongly encouraged to apply.

Preparation:

All roles except Ariel: Please prepare a short piece in the form of stylized movement or dance in which you have expertise, 60 seconds or less. In addition, either prepare a one-minute heightened text monologue OR expect a cold read from the play.

Ariel: Please prepare 1-2 minutes of a contemporary song to be performed a capella. In addition, either prepare a one-minute heightened text monologue OR expect a cold read from the play.

Provisional rehearsal schedule: Mon/Wed evenings, Thurs mornings, weekend afternoons. Tech October 16th-19th; performances October 20th-23rd at Standard Toy Kraft.
