THE PROJECT: This dance video series will feature site-specific solo improvisations of dancers who are moving to their voices telling a raw, vulnerable story about themselves. This series is about overcoming and liberation.

PROCESS: If selected, the two steps of the process basically are: first an in person conversation/interview with me and then a site-specific shooting on another day.

MORE DETAILS ON PROCESS: 1. If selected, I will interview (an hour or so) you in person to identify and tell a meaningful story to you & we’ll record your voice. The interview will focus on an area of life you’d like to release, let go, or no longer be constrained by - or a place you no longer feel free/powerful/able to be yourself. By the end of the interview we’ll know the type of space that makes sense to film in. 2. I’ll identify a space and plan out interesting shots. 3. We will spend about 2 hours shooting on site using music and the recording of your story. 4. We’ll identify an action / type of action you’d like people to support, that comes out of your story. 5. I’ll post online & you'll get the video.

TO SUBMIT: Submit *only* a one-minute improvisation video, a headshot if you have one, and 2 sentences about why you'd like to tell a story with me :) No need for resumes. Send to justina.kamiel@gmail.com.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Submissions are ongoing, as a new video will be published each week. Submission deadline for the next month is December 1, 2017.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR: Justina Grayman is a movement creator, dancer, and athlete with a background in contemporary/modern dance, gymnastics, and track and field. Most recently, she was a company member in STREB Extreme Action Company and performed in Drop at BAM with Kristin Sudeikis Dance. Justina aims to create raw, dynamic movement that allows us to explore/express our inner struggles, our contention with obstacles that seem to control us, and what is possible for us individually and collectively.
