Parent Artist Space Grant Application

 
BAX! Celebrating 25 years

Application DUE: March 2, 2018

 

Now in its 6TH year, BAX offers a special Parent Artist Space Grant to dance, theater, and performance artists. BAX is intimately familiar with the joys and the difficulties of raising a family while creating and producing work in New York City. The grant is designed to address some of the needs of artists who are trying to meet the challenges of being an artist and a parent to preschool age children.

 

PLEASE NOTE:

-For NYC residents ONLY (all 5 boroughs)
-Residency timeline: May 1 – August 15, 2018
-Applicants will be notified on or before March 19, 2018
-You may only apply to ONE space grant program during this cycle
 

ABOUT THE PARENT/ARTIST SPACE GRANT RESIDENCY

The 2018 Parent/Artist Space Grant will be awarded to a total of two artists who are parents of preschool age (0-4) children, and are trying to meet the challenges of being an artist and a parent. In addition to a supportive environment to work in, BAX will provide 50 hours of free rehearsal space and a $300 childcare stipend. Rehearsal hours can be used at any time of the day, seven days a week. Please note: May and June, space is available 7 days a week 9am-10:30pm. There is more availability Monday-Friday, 9am-3pm. In July and August, BAX can only provide weekday evening and weekend space.  Rehearsal space will be available in any of our four rehearsal spaces located in the BAX BUILDING at 421 Fifth Avenue, Park Slope, Brooklyn.

Parent/Artists are also invited to join Summer and Fall Space Grantees in an informal summer showing Tuesday August 7 at 7:00 p.m.

BAX’s  Youth Education programming offers Playspace on Mondays and Fridays (9:30-11:30am) from October 30, 2017 through May 4, 2018. This offering is free of charge to awarded artists. Awarded artists may take advantage of this program with their child as soon as award notification is made.
