Dancewave seeks Dance Teaching Artists

 
We're seeking teaching artists! East and West African Dances, African Diasporic Dances, Latin Dance. Dancewave

Dancewave Seeks Teaching Artists for the 2021-2022 school year for in-person residences in public schools, community center classes, and at the Dancewave Center in Brooklyn. East and West African and African Diaspora dance forms.

Teaching Artists needed for K-12 grades. The right candidate will have experience or the desire to work in a public school setting, be highly organized, and have strong class management skills. This is an exciting and rewarding position for educators who are interested in using dance as a vehicle for transformation, building inclusive, responsive, and developmentally appropriate lessons. Dancewave’s priority is to actively uphold anti-oppressive and culturally responsive standards in teaching student-centered approaches to build community in the classroom.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ideally 2-3 years of teaching experience, public school experience preferred. 

Background in dance, performing arts, communications, or equivalent 

Availability for in school and after school hours (8:00am-5:00pm) 

Required Training: All current and new Teaching Artists are required to review the annual Dancewave Arts Educator Training held on August 31, 2021. A recording from the training will be provided upon hiring.
