Maria Angela is Looking For:

3 female-identifying contemporary dancers, with strong interest in dance theater, improvisation, and controlled movement.

Dancers who feel comfortable using gestures, their voice, and sighs while moving and/or performing

Qualities appreciated in a performer include willingness to explore / experiment, ability to express / emote through the face and body, and being collaborative / providing input in the creative process.

This piece presents a reconstruction of women's instinctive capacity. Therefore, elements such as monotonous movement, sighs, voices, and gestures are fundamental to represent the piece. A quality of freedom and softeness will also be at play, indicative of the approach to those qualities once seen as prohibited for women.

Must be available to rehearse 4-6 hours per week during the program, days/times TBD

Dancers of all sexual orientation, race, and ethnicity are encouraged to apply!
