2024 Women in Dance Leadership Conference Calls for Choreography

2024 Women in Dance Leadership Conference is accepting submissions for live choreography (for stage or site specific) by female/woman dance artists to present their work in Los Angeles, CA. Representative from regional and national festivals and directors will be in the audience of the conference activities. 

Submission Deadline – January 31, 2024

Selection Confirmation Date – April 15, 2024

Conference Date – October 17 to October 19, 2024

 

Choreography Guideline – 

1)  The choreographer must identify as woman/female and the work must promote gender equity 
2) Group (3 or more), Duet, or Solo work are all welcome
3) Time limit: Group (8-15 minutes) Duet or Solo (3-6 minutes)
4) All movement forms from all cultures are welcomed
5) Site-specific work is welcomed
6) A $10 application fee is required for each piece

 

On Stage Submission Guideline - 

1) Only submit a complete video of the work, please no excerpts or full-evening work that needs edits
2) If submit a link that is password-protected, please provide the correct password
3) Make sure your work does not exceed the maximum length
4) The submission is only complete once the application fee is processed

 

Outdoor/Site-Specific Choreography Guideline –

1) The choreographer must identify as woman/female
2) Group (3 or more), Duet, or Solo work are all welcome
3) Time limit: Between 3-5 minutes for Duet/Solo and between 6-10 minutes for Group pieces
4) Please make sure the work is repeatable
5) All movement forms from all cultures are welcomed
6) A $10 application fee for each piece of choreography
7) Outdoor performances are subject to cancellation at short notice because of weather or other unforeseen circumstances
8) Companies/performers/ artists understand that minimal to no technical support will be provided for site-specific works. I.e. you will be performing in locations without Marley/stage/lighting and sound reinforcement
9) Performers should wear appropriate clothing and shoes for an outdoor environment

 

What is included for the selected choreographer and company - 

1) Selected choreographers will present their work during the conference
2) Selected choreographers will receive a VIP pass to attend all conference events including special networking event
3) The performers from the selected work will recieve complimentary passes to all conference events
4) There will be no production fee once the work is accepted
5) The conference has invited artistic directors from major dance companies and professional festivals to attend the selected choreographer’s concerts

What’s not included - 

The selected choreographers and their performers will be responsible to pay for all of their travel and hotel expenses
