ALDEN MOVES Dance Theater seeks professional dancers, ballet or ballet trained, for our immersive Nutcracker on Dec 17th. Stong pointe work and a Luigi Jazz background each a plus. 

About the Show: Our immersive production premiered in a 1920's Brooklyn ballroom in 2014. We used that venue for 6yrs until the pandemic necessitated filming it rather than performing live. It has been in transition in the years since, experimenting with new venues each year. This year's venue will better allow us to include immersive as well as more traditionally staged sections. Our show is classically-based with both modern dance and Old Hollywood leanings in certain roles. 

Project Requirements: Dancers must be able to attend all scheduled rehearsals/performances in full as well as our 12:45-2:15pm Company Class each week between date of hire and the show. 

Dancer Responsibilities: Professional dancers in our immersive Nutcracker serve both as soloists as well as key players in moving students ages 3-13, adult volunteers, and audience members through the show, on stage and off. Dancers will typically be assigned both on-stage roles and, at times when available, shared backstage responsibilities of cuing student entrances and exits.

Compensation: Base project stipend of $355. Additional compensation can be earned at a rate of $15/hr for individual rehearsals that go beyond the 3 hrs included in the base amount and by dancers who assist with load-in and load-out the weekend of the show.

Required Rehearsal & Performance Availability:

Individual Hours: Total of 3-6hrs depending on assigned roles. To be scheduled Tuesdays from 11:30am-3:00pm or Wednesdays from 10:00am-2:00pm. All dancers must also attend Company Class on Fridays from 12:45pm to 2:15pm. Company Class is offerd as a complimentary fringe benefit but is not paid.

Full Company Rehearsal: 11:30am-2:15pm on Tuesday, Nov 28

Blocking Rehearsal: 2:00-6:30pm Saturday, Dec 2

Run-Through Rehearsal: 2:00-6:30pm Saturday, Dec 9

Spacing & Tech Rehearsal: 12:30-6:00pm availability needed on Saturday, Dec 16, but dancers should not be needed for the full period. Schedule TBD. 

2-Show Performance Day: 10:30am-6:30pm on Sunday, Dec 17
